Melinda is the DHA’s prodigy. At just 22, she’s the youngest and most precise Seer in the Hall, raised by the Academy and burdened by the clarity of her visions. But her world is shattered by the arrival of Lord Valerius, a powerful, controlling wizard who seeks to corrupt the DHA, turning its collective prophetic eye into a weapon for his conquest.

As Valerius’s insidious magic begins to muddy the scrying pools, casting doubt and fear among the Diviners, Melinda finds herself increasingly unable to trust her own sight. She is forced to descend to her old home, where she must rely on Nathan, a grounded, skeptical builder from Oakhaven, who knows the earth and its secrets better than any scroll. Melinda must learn to trust Nathan’s practical judgment over her failing visions, and Nathan must learn to trust the magic he once scorned. Together, the Prodigy of the Peak and the Guardian of the Plain must find the source of the corruption before Valerius turns the very eyes of the mountain against the people of Oakhaven.
